Artist Statement:
I have a passion for figure drawing. I get great pleasure from the challenge of creating something in a very finite moment. I feel it keeps my work fresh and alive. I do not touch a piece once the drawing session is over. These days I use mostly watercolor and graphite, though I also enjoy working in gouache and ink. At the moment, I'm using a traditional palette, yellow ochre, indigo, and burnt sienna.

In addition to the human form, I'm drawn to the universal organic forms found in seashells, particularly broken seashells. Much like the human figure, a shell has no straight lines, no sharply defined edges. I like to travel inside myself, contemplate my inner workings and feelings. The broken shells are the medium for my introspective journeys.

Currently, I'm working on a series of cats and dogs, which I'm confident will keep me busy for a while. Their personalities and forms are very pleasing and a great challenge to try and capture on paper.
